Overview

ISearch Toolbar is a search toolbar that is bundled with other software applications. ISearch Toolbar is implemented as a Internet Explorer Browser Helper Object and toolbar. According to spyany.com it will redirect your address bar searches to isearch.com.

Another variant of ISearch Toolbar is the "Desktop Search" which runs at startup.

iSearch's software can also add isearch.com as the default choice in Mozilla's search toolbar.

ISearch Toolbar has been installed with little notice at aimface.com.

Manual removal

Please follow the instructions below if you would like to remove ISearch Toolbar manually. Please notice that you must follow the instructions very carefully and delete everything that is mentioned. In most cases the removal will fail if one single item is not deleted. If ISearch Toolbar remains on your system after stepping through the removal instructions, please double-check by stepping through them again.

  1. Start the registry editor. This is done by clicking Start then Run. (The Run dialog will appear.) Type regedit and click OK. (The registry editor will open.)
  2. Delete 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE \ Classes \ CLSID \ {1C78AB3F-A857-482e-80C0-3A1E5238A565}', if it exists.
  3. Delete 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer\Browser Helper Objects \ {1C78AB3F-A857-482e-80C0-3A1E5238A565}', if it exists.
  4. Delete 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\{1C78AB3F-A857-482e-80C0-3A1E5238A565}', if it exists.
  5. Delete 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\WebBrowser\{1C78AB3F-A857-482E-80C0-3A1E5238A565}', if it exists.
  6. Browse to the key:
    'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Run'
  7. In the right pane, delete the values called 'Desktop Search' and 'ffis', if they exists.
  8. Exit the registry editor.
  9. Restart your computer.
  10. Start Windows Explorer and delete:
    %SystemDir%\toolbar.dll
    %WinDir%\isrvs\sysupd.dll
    %WinDir%\isrvs\desktop.exe
    %WinDir%\isrvs\ffisearch.exe
    %WinDir%\isrvs\mfiltis.dll
    Note: %SystemDir% is a variable (?). By default, this is C:\Windows\System (Windows 95/98/Me), C:\WINNT\System32 (Windows NT/2000), or C:\Windows\System32 (Windows XP).

  11. Start Microsoft Internet Explorer.
  12. In Internet Explorer, click Tools -> Internet Options.
  13. Click the Programs tab -> Reset Web Settings.
