Overview

IEPlugin, also called Intelligent Explorer, is an Internet Explorer browser helper object. Symantec, PestPatrol, DoxDesk.com and spywareguide.com classify it as adware. The vendor's statement about advertising: "You grant to us the right, exercisable by us until you uninstall the Software or this agreement is otherwise terminated, to provide to you the Service of downloading and causing to be displayed advertising material on your computer, through 'pop-up' or other display while you use your browser. You acknowledge and agree that installation of the Software may automatically modify toolbars and other settings of your browser. By installing the Software you agree to such modifications." Source

The vendors statement about updates: "You grant IEPL permission to add/remove features and/or functions to the Software and/or Service, or to install new applications, at any time, in IEPL's sole discretion with or without your knowledge and/or interaction. You also grant IEPL permission to make any changes to the Software and/or Service provided at any time." Source

The vendors statement about the collected information: "You understand and grant IEPL permission to assign a unique software identify code to your copy of the Software. You also grant IEPL permission to collect and store information of your internet usage habit, including but not limited to information about every web page you view with the full Uniform Resource Locators, and the content of web page. You understand and accept that Uniform Resource Locators and the content of web pages you view may include your personally identifiable information. You grant IEPL permission to collect and store information on which toolbar buttons you click on, your response to advertising, the search terms you entered on the toolbar and/or all other information relates to your internet usage habit."

It appears that the IEPlugin vendor has sent a complaint to DoxDesk.com. Lavasoft and Sandra Hardmeier are offering information about IEPlugin.

TrendMicro reports that there is a Trojan named TROJ_IMISERV.C that drop files that seems to be related to IEPlugin.

Uninstall IEPlugin with FreeFixer

The manual removal instructions listed below will help you to identify what to delete with FreeFixer.

Manual removal

Please follow the instructions below if you would like to remove IEPlugin manually. Please notice that you must follow the instructions very carefully and delete everything that is mentioned. In most cases the removal will fail if one single item is not deleted. If IEPlugin remains on your system after stepping through the removal instructions, please double-check by stepping through them again.

  1. Start the registry editor. This is done by clicking Start then Run. (The Run dialog will appear.) Type regedit and click OK. (The registry editor will open.)
  2. Browse to the key:
    'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Run'
  3. In the right pane, delete the values called 'Win Server Updt' and 'Win Server', if they exists.
  4. Delete 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Classes \ CLSID \ {01F44A8A-8C97-4325-A378-76E68DC4AB2E}, if it exists.
  5. Delete 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Classes \ CLSID \ {69135BDE-5FDC-4B61-98AA-82AD2091BCCC}, if it exists.
  6. Delete 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Classes \ CLSID \ {914AFB33-550B-4BD0-B4EF-8DA185504836}, if it exists.
  7. Delete 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Browser Helper Objects \ {01F44A8A-8C97-4325-A378-76E68DC4AB2E} if it exists.
  8. Delete 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Browser Helper Objects \ {69135BDE-5FDC-4B61-98AA-82AD2091BCCC} if it exists.
  9. Delete 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Browser Helper Objects \ {914AFB33-550B-4BD0-B4EF-8DA185504836} if it exists.
  10. Browse to the key:
    'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Internet Explorer \ Toolbar'
  11. In the right pane, delete the value called {69135BDE-5FDC-4B61-98AA-82AD2091BCCC}, if it exists.
  12. In the right pane, delete the value called {914AFB33-550B-4BD0-B4EF-8DA185504836}, if it exists.
  13. Browse to the key:
    'HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Internet Explorer \ Toolbar \ WebBrowser'
  14. In the right pane, delete the value called {69135BDE-5FDC-4B61-98AA-82AD2091BCCC}, if it exists.
  15. In the right pane, delete the value called {914AFB33-550B-4BD0-B4EF-8DA185504836}, if it exists.
  16. Exit the registry editor.
  17. Restart your computer.
  18. Delete the following files:
    %WinDir%\systb.dll
    %WinDir%\winobject.dll
    Note: %WinDir% is a variable (?). By default, this is C:\Windows (Windows 95/98/Me/XP) or C:\WINNT (Windows NT/2000).
