The following is the vendor's description of Media Motor: "Joysticknetworks.com is providing you a Service and a Software that, when downloaded on your computer system will notify you of offers and or information that may be of interest to you, by adding an overlay to text of Web sites you visit or by linking to websites with with various offers and information. Upon the opening of any World Wide Web Page, the Software scans the Web Page, and includes text above the search results from the web page This text is not part of the Web page you are on, but are overlays provided by the Service. When you click on the marked word or phrase, you will be directed to a third party Web site. Links to the associated third party Web sites are provided by the Service and are not provided by the Web site you are visiting. If you follow any link and wish to return to the site where you were, simply click the Back button. Also, whenever an email address is scanned, that email address may be documented and sent to Joysticknetworks.com for marketing purposes."

Media Motor may also install 180 Search Assistant, DealHelper, e2give, Surf Sidekick, Internet Optimizer, IBIS WebSearch Tools IBIS Win-Tools and IBIS WebSearch Toolbar.

The manual removal instructions listed below will help you to identify what to delete with FreeFixer.

Manual removal

Please follow the instructions below if you would like to remove Media Motor manually. Please notice that you must follow the instructions very carefully and delete everything that is mentioned. In most cases the removal will fail if one single item is not deleted. If Media Motor remains on your system after stepping through the removal instructions, please double-check by stepping through them again.

  1. Start your computer in safe mode.
  2. Start the registry editor. This is done by clicking Start then Run. (The Run dialog will appear.) Type regedit and click OK. (The registry editor will open.)
  3. Delete 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Classes \ CLSID \ {E0CE16CB-741C-4B24-8D04-A817856E07F4}\', if it exists.
  4. Browse to the key:
    'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Run'
  5. In the right pane, delete the value called 'mediamotor.exe', if it exists.
  6. Exit the registry editor.
  7. Start Windows Explorer and delete:
    %WinDir%\MEDIAMOTOR25.EXE
    %WinDir%\mm20.ocx
    %WinDir%\mm21.ocx
    %WinDir%\mm63.ocx
    %WinDir%\mmups.exe
    %WinDir%\unstall.exe
    Note: %WinDir% is a variable (?). By default, this is C:\Windows (Windows 95/98/Me/XP) or C:\WINNT (Windows NT/2000).
