PowerSearch
Overview
PowerSearch is a Internet Explorer search toolbar. When searching in the toolbar
you will be directed to www.sirsearch.com, which can open pop-up windows
from time to time. PowerSearch
is bundled with "One Nutty Santa Screensaver".
The EULA statement about updates:
"By downloading, installing and using the Software, you agree to accept
updates, patches and/or enhancements issued by ThunderDownloads."
PowerSearch may also bundle KeenValue and
iGetNet as stated in the EULA from
2004-08-11.
Files
pwrs0102.dll, pwrs0108.dll, pwrsbikd.dll, pwrswmda.dll, pwrs0rbi.dll
If you have any of the files related to PowerSearch on your system,
please send them
for additional analysis. Generally, I have only analysed a
few versions for each software component listed at this web site. With your help I
will be able to look at both old and more recent versions of the PowerSearch software.

Uninstall procedure
Uninstall PowerSearch from "Add/Remove Programs" in the Windows® Control Panel.
Manual removal
Please follow the instructions below if you would like to remove PowerSearch manually. Please
notice that you must follow the instructions very carefully and delete everything that is mentioned. In most
cases the removal will fail if one single item is not deleted. If PowerSearch remains on your system
after stepping through the removal instructions, please double-check by stepping through them again.

Start the registry editor. This is done by clicking Start then Run.
(The Run dialog will appear.) Type regedit and click OK. (The registry editor will open.)
- Use the search function to find and delete the following strings:

{4E7BD74F-2B8D-469E-D3FA-F27BA787AD2D}
{4E7BD74F-2B8D-469E-AA8E-8E1CA787AD2D}

{4E7BD74F-2B8D-469E-DBFC-ED1CA787AD2D}
- Exit the registry editor.
- Restart your computer.

Start Windows Explorer and delete:
%ProgramsDir%\PowerSearch\
Note: %ProgramsDir% is a variable (?). By default, this is C:\Program Files.
- Start Microsoft Internet Explorer.
- In Internet Explorer, click Tools -> Internet Options.
- Click the Programs tab -> Reset Web Settings.
