SearchLocate
Overview
SearchLocate is a search toolbar named BrowserAngel/SearchLocate toolbar and
classified as
'Definitely not required - typically viruses, spyware, adware and "resource hogs"'
by computercops.
SearchLocate is also used in an
anti-spyware software test
as an example of potentially unwanted software.
User reports redirects to http://searchlocate.com/123/search.php?query.
Looking at the contents of the sidebar.dll file does not reveal much. The following
contents from the file might be helpful:
"BAToolbar .. updateMsg .. Update toolbar .. tburl.dll .. WEBJUMP TOOLBAR .. MyToolBar"

Uninstall SearchLocate with FreeFixer
I'm working on a general purpose tool for removing unwanted software.

and software that starts automatically when you reboot your computer, so it can offer some
assistance while uninstalling SearchLocate. The manual removal instructions
listed below will help you to identify what to delete with
FreeFixer.

Manual removal
Please follow the instructions below if you would like to remove SearchLocate manually. Please
notice that you must follow the instructions very carefully and delete everything that is mentioned. In most
cases the removal will fail if one single item is not deleted. If SearchLocate remains on your system
after stepping through the removal instructions, please double-check by stepping through them again.

Start the registry editor. This is done by clicking Start then Run.
(The Run dialog will appear.) Type regedit and click OK. (The registry editor will open.)
- Delete 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Classes \ CLSID \ {952EC978-4920-4F18-8237-91D69B54C580}', if it exists.
- Browse to the key:
'HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Internet Explorer \ Toolbar \ WebBrowser'
- In the right pane, delete the value called {952EC978-4920-4F18-8237-91D69B54C580}, if it exists.
- Browse to the key:
'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Internet Explorer \ Toolbar'
- In the right pane, delete the value called {952EC978-4920-4F18-8237-91D69B54C580}, if it exists.
- Exit the registry editor.
- Restart your computer.

Start Windows Explorer and delete:
%ProgramsDir%\SearchLocate\
Note: %ProgramsDir% is a variable (?). By default, this is C:\Program Files.
- Start Microsoft Internet Explorer.
- In Internet Explorer, click Tools -> Internet Options.
- Click the Programs tab -> Reset Web Settings.
