SideFind
Overview
SideFind, also called IS Technologies SideFind,
is an UPX compressed browser helper object and
toolbar for Internet Explorer. SideFind uses Microsoft .NET
as its runtime environment.
Sophos anti-virus site states that SideFind may be downloaded by
Troj/IstBar-M.
According to a discussion at NTBugtraq Mailing List
SideFind monitors google searches as open up the side panel with
SideFind's own search results. SFBHO.DLL mentions http://www.google.com/
when examining the contents of the DLL.
SideFind has been installed with little notice along with
ABC Scrabble and at
aimface.com.

Uninstall SideFind with FreeFixer

and software that starts automatically when you reboot your computer, so it can offer some
assistance while uninstalling SideFind. The manual removal instructions
listed below will help you to identify what to delete with
FreeFixer.

Manual removal
Please follow the instructions below if you would like to remove SideFind manually. Please
notice that you must follow the instructions very carefully and delete everything that is mentioned. In most
cases the removal will fail if one single item is not deleted. If SideFind remains on your system
after stepping through the removal instructions, please double-check by stepping through them again.

Start the registry editor. This is done by clicking Start then Run.
(The Run dialog will appear.) Type regedit and click OK. (The registry editor will open.)
- Delete 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Classes \ CLSID \ {A3FDD654-A057-4971-9844-4ED8E67DBBB8}', if it exists.
- Delete 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Classes \ CLSID \ {8CBA1B49-8144-4721-A7B1-64C578C9EED7}', if it exists.
- Delete 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Internet Explorer \ Explorer Bars \ {8CBA1B49-8144-4721-A7B1-64C578C9EED7}', if it exists.
- Delete 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Browser Helper Objects \ {A3FDD654-A057-4971-9844-4ED8E67DBBB8}', if it exists.
- Exit the registry editor.
- Restart your computer.

Start Windows Explorer and delete:
%ProgramsDir%\SIDEFIND\
%WinDir%\temp\sidefind.exe
Note: %ProgramsDir% is a variable (?). By default, this is C:\Program Files.

- Start Microsoft Internet Explorer.
- In Internet Explorer, click Tools -> Internet Options.
- Click the Programs tab -> Reset Web Settings.
