ZipClix

Overview

ZipClix is an Internet Explorer search bar, bundled with System Soap and as stated in the SystemSoap EULA. Also bundled with InternetWasher Pro as stated in the InternetWasher Pro EULA.

DoxDesk.com reports that ZipClix can be directed by its controlling server to download and execute arbitrary code as a self-updating feature and that there is an feature to show periodic advertisements.

ComputerCops and Sysinfo.org classify ZipClix as certified spyware/foistware, or other malware. Lavasoft states that ZipClix is a browser hijacker.

Uninstall ZipClix from "Add/Remove Programs" in the Windows® Control Panel. Look for an entry called "ZipClix".

Uninstall ZipClix with FreeFixer

Manual removal

Please follow the instructions below if you would like to remove ZipClix manually. Please notice that you must follow the instructions very carefully and delete everything that is mentioned. In most cases the removal will fail if one single item is not deleted. If ZipClix remains on your system after stepping through the removal instructions, please double-check by stepping through them again.

1. Start the registry editor. This is done by clicking Start then Run. (The Run dialog will appear.) Type regedit and click OK. (The registry editor will open.)
2. Delete 'HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ CLSID \ {319A68DB-06D0-46DA-9F93-A810D5A70836}', if it exists.
3. Browse to the key:
   'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Internet Explorer \ Toolbar'
4. In the right pane, delete the value called {319A68DB-06D0-46DA-9F93-A810D5A70836}, if it exists.
5. Browse to the key:
   'HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Internet Explorer \ Toolbar \ WebBrowser'
6. In the right pane, delete the value called {319A68DB-06D0-46DA-9F93-A810D5A70836}, if it exists.
7. Delete 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Uninstall \ ZipClix \ DisplayName', if it exists.
8. Exit the registry editor.
9. Restart your computer.
10. Start Windows Explorer and delete:
    %ProgramsDir%\ZipClix\
    Note: %ProgramsDir% is a variable (?). By default, this is C:\Program Files.
11. Start Microsoft Internet Explorer.
12. In Internet Explorer, click Tools -> Internet Options.
13. Click the Programs tab -> Reset Web Settings.
